Since being admitted as a lawyer in 2007, Jared has had a strong focus on construction law and related areas such as insurance and insolvency.
Jared was born and raised in Christchurch. Before becoming a lawyer, Jared spent a number of years studying and then working as an opera singer based in London.
As a leader in our Construction and Litigation teams, Jared prides himself on building a strong relationship of trust and confidence with his clients. Jared has acted for central government, local government and private clients in the ‘front end’ drafting and negotiation of construction contracts, and in disputes. In the disputes area, he has acted for clients in mediation, adjudication (under the Construction Contracts Act 2002), expert determination, and arbitration, as well as District and High Court proceedings.
In addition to his experience working in private practice in New Zealand and in London, Jared’s experience includes periods as an in-house lawyer (Special Counsel) at Wellington City Council and as a barrister sole.
Jared is a Council member of the Society of Construction Law (NZ), a member of the Society of Construction Law (UK), and a member of the New Zealand Insurance Law Association.
Jared is based in Christchurch, and works across all of our offices.
