Summer Clerkships

Tavendale and Partners offers a unique insight into the businesses, families and individuals that drive New Zealand’s economy. We fly under the radar, our client relationships run deep, and our networks are far reaching.

As a Summer Clerk your experience will be diverse, you’ll be mentored by some of the best lawyers in their field and be given the opportunity to be part of a project team working on continuous improvement around an aspect of our business.

We offer summer clerkships across all our offices for students entering their final year of study for an LLB or LLB Hons.

Applications for Summer Clerkships will open again in February 2025.

We currently have a full complement of Graduates joining the firm in 2025. Applications for roles for 2026 will open early next year. Keep an eye out on our LinkedIn for updates.

Tavendale and Partners is a leading commercial and agribusiness law firm, but our leadership in the industry goes further than legal expertise.

We have broken the traditional law firm model, and are focused on the wellbeing and success of our people.

We work hard, but don’t just measure value in hours billed or tasks performed. We value innovation and creativity, and involve every individual in the running of our business. We foster a culture of change, and work from a basis of trust and confidence in each other. We foster new experiences, take an interest in personal goals, and know that investing in our people is also an investment in our clients’ success.

Our team is passionate about client service, something which is reflected in the long-standing relationships we have created with those who partner with us. We take pride in our work, in our clients and in each other.

If you share our enthusiasm for growth, innovation and success, we want to hear from you. Let's talk about you + us

Life with Tavendale and Partners

We work hard and we play hard. We’re a social team with a wide range of personal interests outside of the office. Whether you’re a fan of the arts or into multi-sport racing, we encourage every individual to pursue what excites them. We encourage community involvement and, as a firm, provide support through sponsorship and volunteering. If you’re looking for that elusive balance of work + play, get in touch today.

Life balance

Our flexible working options are based on a model of trust. We expect dedication and diligence from our team, but try to keep the balance right as we recognise that there is more to life than work.

Community involvement

As a firm, we’re always looking for ways to contribute to the communities we work within. Get involved with the organisations we support through sponsorship and volunteering opportunities, or suggest something new that you think would be a good fit.

Personal & professional growth

We believe that investing in the business, means investing in you. Through regular training and mentoring, we work with you to develop skills and pursue your professional interests. Our leadership team understands the importance of having direction in your career, and is therefore committed to supporting you in this regard.

Teamwork isn’t just a buzz word to us. Our advice is not limited to the expertise of a single person or team. Instead, we work together and rely on each other’s knowledge and experience to get the best result for our clients using good communication and collaboration.

Make a difference

We don’t just do legal work - we manage projects, build confidence and provide peace of mind for clients that are facing tough situations. We work hard to ensure our advice adds value, and take pride in making a difference to the lives of all those we support.

Make connections

We are a diverse bunch of individuals, each bringing something unique to the business. Working with us, you are sure to create lasting connections with colleagues, clients and other talented professionals throughout New Zealand and further afield.
